Sign-On Statement on Anti-Muslim Rallies Oct. 9th & 10th

As proud Americans and as people of faith and/or supporters of social justice we collectively oppose this weekend’s anti-Muslim protests which are deceivingly named the Global Rally for Humanity. This toxic display of ignorance, fear and intimidation is antithetical to American values.

Several of the individuals leading this effort are calling for protesters to show up armed, in “open carry” fashion. This means that — by design — entire families could be subjected to frightening confrontations with angry, gun wielding protesters.

Anti-Bullying Policies in School

As introduced, expands definition of harassment and bullying in schools to include conduct based on actual or perceived demographic traits, requires review of anti-bullying policies at least once every three years, clarifies that such policies apply to students, school staff and volunteers. – Amends TCA Title 49.

This bill has been taken off notice in the House Education Committee on 4/1/14.

Ask Congress to End Indefinite Detention Today!

Last year, President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), codifying indefinite military detention without charge or trial into law for the first time in American history.
