As proud Americans and as people of faith and/or supporters of social justice we collectively oppose this weekend’s anti-Muslim protests which are deceivingly named the Global Rally for Humanity. This toxic display of ignorance, fear and intimidation is antithetical to American values.

Several of the individuals leading this effort are calling for protesters to show up armed, in “open carry” fashion. This means that — by design — entire families could be subjected to frightening confrontations with angry, gun wielding protesters.
