Two weeks ago because of our collective efforts, we were able to delay the vote on the HB1129 by T. Hill. HB1129 seeks to create new barriers for how the historical achievements of minorities in Tennessee are portrayed by deleting important guidelines on diversity in textbooks.
We are expecting amendments to be added to the bill. Let’s continue to take action so that any amendments introduced will protect the section of the Tennessee code that encourages the teaching of diversity.
The bill is on the calendar of the House Education Committee for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 11. Act Now to ask members of the House Education Committee to ensure that diversity is taught in textbooks.
